Services: Information Architecture, Web Design
RIA is Singapore’s leading radio station for the Malay community. Their website design was dated. They needed a new look that was more “grunge” and “hip hop”. They also had a lot more content ideas and services for the new site so they needed a new information architecture. They wanted the site to look very “busy” and “packed” with content and activities to explore.
Old site: Homepage, Section Page, Article Page
The new site is designed to a standardised grid which will be used across different radio stations. Some of the standard elements the design had to cater to are:
- Station-branded radio player
- Banner advertising sizes and placement
- Corporate navigation
- Promotions
- SMS the Radio Station
The design is very modular. This way if the page is too packed or too busy, the site administrators can just remove “boxes” from the design without having to rework the entire site.
We also considered usability of the site. On the old site, every segement had its own page. But on that page, there was no way to SMS/e-mail the DJ or send in song dedications.
New site: Homepage, Section Page, Article Page
The new site isn’t launched yet. It is being implemented by the client’s internal technology team. You can still visit the old site at http://www.ria.sg
