Researching “Home Dwellers”
May 20th, 2007We’ve just completed a project for the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore.
Our mission was to find out how easy it is for “Home Dwellers” to find and understand the information on their website.
We were very lucky that all the participants were wonderful. We were able to collect really good data and provide some invaluable insights to our client in terms of the:
- Organisation of Content
- Clarity of Content
- ‘Actionability’ of Content
- Clarity of Labels
- Ease of Navigation
Most of the problems faced by users can easily be fixed by improving on the content and labels - which isn’t really surprising at all. The Nielsen/Norman group found that approximately 60% of usability problems are content-related.
We also recommended some improvements to the design because we found that our participants relied on images to orientate themselves and understand the content.
