On a High with the Singapore Flyer
August 29th, 2008We have been really quiet on the blog in 2008 - it’s been a really busy 8 months!
Still, it’s no excuse for the silence. No one could have been busier than the Chinese in Beijing! And they still managed to make enough noise during the 2008 Olympics that we could hear them from here!
So today, let’s blow off the dust and update you with what’s been happening in the DB galaxy.
Let’s start with the first quarter of 2008.
More content development for industries
We were busy with yet more web content development for Singapore industries. The content team was so deep in industry research, we now know that:
- The biomedical manufacturing cluster employed 10,581 workers and had S$1.2 million value-added per worker in 2006.
- Businesses in film, television and radio production and distribution, e.g. television programme production/distribution, cinema services – make up the second smallest sub-sector in the Infocomm industry but have the second highest profitability ratio!
We developed a total of 24 industries and sub-sectors - almost 1,000 pages of content. We were rolling out industry content that EnterpriseOne users said they wanted, so we hope Singapore businesses have found the content useful.
Singapore Flyer website revamp
We also had the chance to revamp the Singapore Flyer website, one of Singapore’s newest iconic attractions.
We had to rush for the site to be ready in tandem with the official launch of the Singapore Flyer on April 15, 2008. We:
- developed a highly customised CMS using Joomla
- conducted informal usability tests
- developed an intuitive content architecture
- created a usable site design to improve user experience
- rewrote the content for major sections
Jiayi, Elaine, Colin, Sam & Charlotte worked tireless for weeks to make sure everything was in place. We also had to be extra sure the server was going to be able to handle the traffic. Thankfully the site was launched without a hitch!
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to work on their booking engine this time - next phase perhaps.
