Don’t trash your G4 cube
July 16th, 2001If you haven’t already heard, Apple has pulled the plug on its Power Mac G4. Along with other Apple defunct products like the once-popular emate and Newton, the G4 will go into cold storage. Apple announced that there is a small chance it will re-introduce an upgraded model in the future, but that there are no plans to do so at this time.
So is it time to just trash away your Apple G4 Cube?
According to news reports and wires, there are Apple fans are making a grab for the last G4 Cubes in the market. Nostalgia for the G4 Cube and its unique design is one of the main reasons. Moreover, it is really quite an affordable Apple to own considering it runs on the G4 processor and comes packaged with a luscious flat screen.
If you want to cash in, consider auctioning off your G4 Cube. On eBay, a second hand G4 Cube US$1,250 to US$1,775. On local auction site, auction.asia1.com.sg, there is a G4 Cube going for S$3,000.
For collectors, the best thing to do might be to hold on to your G4 Cube till the value appreciates.
