Stay slim even with WAP
August 28th, 2001The latest Samsung offering in the mobile phone market comes in the form of the SGH-N200. The new mobile phone targets WAP users who want the connectivity of WAP without the bulk.
Given the features, the SGH-N200 is in the same league with phones such as the Nokia 3330, Nokia 6210, Siemens M35i, Siemens S35i and Siemens S40.
In this bracket, the SGH-N200 offers a great size and weight advantage. It is merely 69g and wafer-thin at just 14.9mm. It also comes across as a more stylish business tool.
In terms of connection technology, it has WAP connectivity of up 14.4kbps. Nothing impressive but enough to meet the demands of the WAP market and the needs of WAP users. It also comes packed with the latest OpenWave version 4.1 WAP browser.
“We’re targeting today’s young, urban professional with this product,” said Mr Je Seung Park, Managing Director, Electronics SET Division of Samsung Asia Pte Ltd.
Other features include:
- Voice Dialing, Command & Memo
- PIM functionality, including To Do List, Scheduler, Alarm and Calculator;
- Built-in Screen Savers
- 11 games
The SGH-N200 is available in four colours: Champagne Gold, Metallic Grey-Blue, and Dark Grey. With a 1-year plan, the SGH-N200 retails for S$428. Compared to the Ericsson T39 which retails for S$476 with a 1-year plan, the SGH-N200 is expensive, especially when the T39 comes with Bluetooth, WAP, GPRS, HSCSD and more.
